MARCH 15, 2008 - My surgery (2 days before my first surgery)

Read the previous email

Hi all,

As some of you already know, I will go through a jaw surgery next Monday morning (March 17) at the Charles LeMoyne Hospital (HCLM) to correct the remaining problems with my teeth and jaws that orthodontics couldn't fix.

After a year and a half of wearing braces to align my teeth, it is now time to correct the position of my jaw bones because my upper teeth currently barely touch my lower teeth when I close my mouth. I will be in the hospital for 2 nights plus the day of the surgery. Then, I will stay home for 3 to 4 weeks. I will be on a liquid only diet for the first week (until March 25) because my teeth will be held together with elastics. Then, I will be able to start eating soft food and harder food as the time goes by.

I would need all the positive thoughts that you could give me because even though I have full confidence in my surgeon, it is still a fairly long procedure (4 hours in the operating block) and the pain that I'll suffer afterwards stresses me out a little.

I have asked my husband to send feedback from my surgery to everybody on the distribution list of this email. I will take over after I'm good enough to send my own emails.

Thank you and I hope to see you soon,

Marie-Hélène
