MARCH 17, 2008 - News about Marie-Hélène (email sent by my husband)

Hi all,

Marie-Hélène's surgery went off very well. The operation was completed in a little bit more than 3 hours and her surgeon said that everything went well.

She entered the operating block at 10h am this morning and she came out of the recovery room around 3h20 pm. When I left the hospital at 8h30 pm, the pain that she was experiencing in her face had significantly subsided. For the moment, her face color is still not like Smurfette's skin color, but her cheeks have obviously started to swell (she has a bag of ice put on each cheek) and her throat is a little bit sore because of the tracheal tube used during the operation. She has started to drink a little to hydrate herself and she is hooked on saline solution and she's given morphine that will be replaced by anti-inflammatory and pain medication tomorrow.

She should be back home Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you for your thoughts that you have given her all day and do not hesitate to send me get-well wishes if you have any; I will make sure that she gets them.
